A recent trip up to Dimboola allowed me some access to some pollution free sky and an opportunity to try out some Star Trail photography. I tried on two nights. I learned a lot the first night – there is a lot of work in post processing these images. Taken on a 5D Mark III with the 16-35 f/2.8 L II USM lens, I had around 30 x 4 minute exposures at ISO 800 with some nice silhouetted trees in the foreground. A single car over the ~ 3 hours came...
In Brisbane for some business, I took along my camera to Mt Coot-tha lookout and watched several storms roll in. After around 2 and a half hours, I did end up with a few nice pictures. Lightning is a very fickle thing. You can’t have something too bright or it gets washed out and getting the image balance right is a challenge, but this one seemed to come up very well. I hope you enjoy.

The caves at Buchan, Victoria are simply stunning. First found and explored in 1907, this cave system is a must see for those who love to see amazing things.
After the rains came, there were puddles. Reflected in the puddles were the buildings. Thrown into the puddles were stones by my 8yo son, the ripples make the picture…
We look at many things but rarely truly see.
